Texas Troubadour William Clark Green is set to release his 5th studio album next month (August). Recorded in Nashville, TN at the famed Sound Emporium studio, Green upcoming release was produced by Benjy David - who played a crucial part co-writing the album - “Benjy [Davis] was a very important part of the writing process. Not only did he set me up with guys he thought I would write with, he helped me pick my best songs.” As far as storytelling goes, the 14 tracks were inspired by Green’s own upbringing at a family owned farm outside Beaumont, TX. The album explores the versatility of Greens songwriting in a collection of dactylic tales with a blend of southern rock, intertwined with traditional country to Texas finest sounds in addition to Green’s very own gravely vocals. The title track ‘Herbert Island’ starts off the album with a perfect summer tune in a fine Cajon manner honoring the city for its riches comfort southern hospitality. ‘Hit Me Where It Hurts’ was the first single to be out where Wide Open Country referred to it as a “colossal sing-along chorus [that] easily ropes you in with one of the most addictive ear candy hooks all year.” The bitter track concludes the hatred of an unfaithful partner. The following song ‘What About Time’ co written with Ryan Beaver and Ross Cooper begins with a rocking riff, which later continues down to ‘Goner’ with a roots revival leading. Among other highlights from the album including ‘This Is Us’, ‘Poor’ and ‘Stay’ paves way for romantic tales of two wondering hearts that are madly passionate and couldn’t care less of money or what the world or in-laws might think nor anything that stops one with sureness they can get away. ‘Farewell’ and ‘Drunk Again’ talks through the story of a brokenhearted man who’s in search of closure and trying to find fitting to farewell the past. The last and final track concludes with a heartfelt-balled titled ‘Mother’ - the tune carries Green’s vocals in a beautiful southern manner displaying the importance of his mother’s role on his life with words “My Mother always been my better half” In a statement Green shared “I think every album is a chapter in my life. We work very hard at following our hearts through music and trying to advance our style. This album is no different.
