Without sounding like Marcus Bentley talking about the Big Brother house, day nine of the country to country adventure AKA C2C London day two began with a problem free journey via National Rail and breakfast courtesy of a certain restaurant with golden arches at London Bridge which helped with the come down following Kane Brown’s epic headline set which ended night one.
Day two at C2C was a prime example of the reason why we engage in the crazy circus that is the music industry. It was an intense count on the pedometer, schedules change last minute so things don’t run to time and all the intentions of artists that you want to see play during the day go completely out of the window but you just ride the wave and life finds a way - really chuffed to be able to drop a great Jurassic Park reference into this piece.
Whilst we caught part sets from Jeff Cohen, Brooke Eden, Drayton Farley and the wonder from down under by the name of Brad Cox, it was the incredible quartet from Hamilton, Ontario who were representing Team Canada that were the only full set we got to indulge in. We first caught The Redhill Valleys (not to be confused with the town in Surrey that Jamie used to live) at Americana Music Week in January and boy did they bring the party for a set at eleven o’clock in the morning. These guys are so refined in what they do and have such an intense level of energy which really highlights why Americana is such an exciting genre right now and why music coming out of Canada is so exciting.

Danielle, Chelsea, Tim and Matt were the first of five interviews which we conducted on Saturday afternoon where the hilarious Brad Cox, absolute darling and fashionista that is Hannah Dasher, wild pair of Yinzers who call themselves Lakeview and our favourite sisters from North Dakota; Tigirlily Gold came to cause a riot with us which we cannot wait to share. Also, our pals: Brooke Eden, Carter Faith, Halle Kearns, Alyssa Bonagura, Abbey Cone, the firecracker that is Harper Grace and our new friend Lola Kirke wanted to hang out so the next thing we knew it was time to head back into the arena for a second evening.
We attended the Big Machine showcase on Wednesday evening so had already spent some time with Brian Kelley and had a taste of what we might hear on the main stage. The set was loud, it was clean and really showcased why we should be excited about his forthcoming album because he is such a captivating live performer. One song does stand out and it’s pretty evident who the song might be referring to but it is really refreshing to see how he is moving on from a chapter and ready to showcase the full BK adventure which we are so excited to join the ride for.
What followed was probably the most eagerly anticipated set of the entire weekend as Jake Owen stepped onto stage for a rowdy parade of hits to celebrate his first EVER show in London which was even louder than his bright yellow trousers. This guy really is one of the most charismatic showmen that country music has ever seen and is one of the best live performers that you will ever see where Shiela don’t need tequila to go batshit at a show because the entire audience was already there.

Then to round off night two was the party central hit factory from Brad Paisley who brought an American Saturday Night across the pond to our beautiful city with banger after banger with a guest appearance from legendary guitar icon Albert Lee.
We may have decided that this wasn’t enough and the queen of the festival that acted as main stage hostess Alana Springsteen followed up being the highlight of last weekend in the stunning German capital we call Berlin to bringing a little more fun to really round off Saturday night. She genuinely stole the show in Germany and given that she was here all weekend in London, I think she definitely deserved a main stage set which would also take her to Glasgow and Belfast too.
