The C2C Sit Down with Chase Matthew
Few emerging artists in country music have had a rise quite like Chase Matthew. From his rowdy live shows to his authentic, sentimental storytelling, he’s built a loyal fanbase that spans far beyond his Nashville roots. Now, with his brand-new album Chase making waves, he’s gearing up for a huge year ahead — headlining his first UK tour, taking the stage at C2C in Berlin and Rotterdam, and gearing up to open for country superstar Keith Urban on his upcoming High and Alive World Tour.
I caught up with Chase to talk about the new record, what it means to bring his music across the pond, and the wild ride he’s on right now.
Hey Chase, how are you doing?
I'm doing very well, thanks. How’s it going?
I’m good too – happy to be chatting with you. It seems like you’ve hit the ground running this year already.
First off, I wanna say I see your Nashville poster back there on your wall. Love it. Love it. My 2025 has been really cool. A lot of cool things happening. Looking forward to some big things. New album just came out, and we're going overseas, so let's do it.
First off, I gotta say, congrats on the TikTok milestone recently.
Thank you.
That must have felt. I mean, how did that feel? That must be incredible, hitting 1 million.
Yeah, 1 million followers! To go from the letter K to the letter M was, you know, I think it's, it's an achievement. It's like, I don't know. I feel like I should wear it on my T shirt for a day, you know [laughs].
I think you should wear it for more than a day for a million; you should get at least a week out of that [laughs].
Yeah, it's a big one.

It is absolutely, I mean, it seems like you're set for a massive year this year as well, like coming off an already impressive 2024, including touring with Jason Aldean, with Luke Bryan. How excited are you for everything that's set to come this year?
One word to describe it, is very. I'm very excited. I think that last year taught me a lot on tour with you know, those were my first ever tours with anybody. So to learn about the road life from those kind of guys. It's a bigger scale. I learned a lot. And to learn from those guys was, you know, obviously incredible, right? But, yeah, I mean, that year taught me a lot. And going into this year, I think that I'm going to have a lot of opportunities that I never thought I would ever have. And so I'm very, very excited and very, very grateful.
Yeah, I was gonna say, you must learn so much, I mean, playing arenas and stadiums of that size. I've been to a bunch of Luke Bryan shows, and it always looks like it's the best time, and that's just, I mean, it always is the best time, just as a someone in the crowd. So I can only imagine what it's like to be part of the tour and be up on stages that big.
I love to throw a party. That's for sure. We all love to throw a party, and I think that's something that I definitely learned from them guys. As long as you're having fun, you're good.
And you're jumping into another massive tour coming up, a world tour with Keith Urban. You've said you've learned a lot. Does it feel different going into this tour with Keith Urban now you've got that experience under your belt?
I think it definitely feels a little different. And also knowing that, you know, I'm going on a world tour with Keith Urban, which is something I've never done. You know, this week is going to be my first time ever leaving North America. I've only ever been to Canada outside of the states, so, you know, I'm really excited to go to Australia with Keith. And I don't think there's anybody better to go to Australia with, you know. So that's great. And just kind of getting my feet wet in different markets that I've never been before. So that'll be fun.
Definitely. I've only been to a couple of country shows in Australia, but they know how to do it properly.
That’s what I've heard. I've heard that they've got a party anthem, for sure.
They get into it. And it's tradition, you have to drink, take a drink out of, like, your boot or your shoe. Have you heard of that?
Yeah, the shoey. I'm gonna have to do that when I get there.
Maybe take some new boots for that [laughs].
[Laughs] Yeah, yeah, definitely gonna get some new ones for those shows for sure.
And you'll be touring with Alana Springsteen on this tour again. She was on some of the Luke Bryan shows with you, so there’ll be a familiar face there too.
Me and Alana are good friends. I saw her the other night, and we were cutting up about, you know, all the just cool stuff that's happened last year, but also that's coming this year, and you know, she's always been, she's always showed a lot of support, and I love what she does.
Yeah, I mean, it seems like you're really racking up a load of these milestones, like the million followers on Tiktok, your first platinum record with ‘County Line,’, your first international shows, does it feel like it's all just building in a real cool way?
Yeah, I think that there's definitely been, just this insane amount of new fans coming in that that are just learning about Chase Matthew. And this year I've made a new goal of myself to make sure that I'm more one on one with fans and try to be more of a people person than I've ever been. And I think that goes a long way with how much growth we're seeing throughout, all the way from ‘County Line’ to where we are now with all these new songs that are really seeing a huge growth. And so, yeah, I'm really excited to get over there and play some of these new songs in the UK, because I know it's going to be a weird feeling seeing people singing my songs, knowing how far away from home I am, you know.

Yeah, I bet, and people are really excited for your shows, man. You're one of the names that keeps coming up whenever I talk to people about C2C.
That's awesome.
So there's definitely demand, and you say you love to throw a party, so I think I think you’re gonna have an awesome time here.
I'm so excited. Wow, that gets me fired up.
And it's not too long now. I mean, it's next week that you start with your headline tour, before you go over to Berlin and Rotterdam.
Yeah, I'm leaving tonight. I got one show to catch in Florida, and then we're getting on a plane going straight overseas, so I'll be there shortly.
What are you most looking forward to about being over here?
I think aside from the music, I'm excited to just like, go see the area, you know, I never thought that I would ever get to do this, right? I never thought I'd ever leave the country, but I've always dreamed of it. So it's like I'm kind of carrying the torch for a lot of my friends and family that have always wanted to go and, you know, maybe next time we’ll bring them with us, but looking forward to the music side of it, I think, mainly I'm just ready to strum the first chord and see how it goes, because I know it's going to be different, but I've heard that people over there are just very, very, if they like country music, they're Die Hard over it, and that's what I think is really cool, and I'd love to see.
For sure. I think that's - whenever I speak to international artists - that's the one thing that they say always takes them by surprise, like when they come over here, people don't just know the singles, they know the deep cuts, the YouTube covers that you did five years ago, like they love it.
Oh no, I hope not [laughs]. Oh man.
That's awesome.
So there's definitely demand, and you say you love to throw a party, so I think I think you’re gonna have an awesome time here.
I'm so excited. Wow, that gets me fired up.

Oh no, I hope not [laughs]. Oh man.
But speaking about your new music, you just released your third album last week. How's the reception been to that so far?
It's been awesome, and, yeah, I think that with this album, I like, really put a lot of hard work into it, and just kind of like trying to understand what I wanted to accomplish, what I wanted to say throughout it. And so this week has been really cool, because it's, you know, we're the first week in, and there's a lot of people that are drawing towards songs that I didn't think they would as much as other ones. And so I've said this before. It's like, you let the fans decide, and I quit caring so much about what they were gonna like, to the point I just put it out and let them choose, you know, and so it it's been really cool to watch the fans choose which ones they like, and see the push with them.
Which has been the song that sort of surprised you the most from this record that fans have really gravitated towards?
Probably ‘No Name Roads’ or, ‘I Don't Wanna Know,’ those two have been really, which they're great songs, you know? But it was just like, I was thinking people were going to drive towards ‘Drives My Truck,’ or ‘No Way Around It,’ or ‘Sunday Clothes,’ but it's cool, man. It's cool to see those [streaming] numbers rising.
How would you describe your music or your live show for people who will be new to it? How would you describe what they can expect?
Yeah, well, really, I'm just a normal guy that worked a job for six years as an ATV mechanic. I worked on cars, trucks, four wheelers, all that, and started putting music on the internet. And somehow ended up overseas, a long way from home. But, yeah, I think that if you want to describe me in a way, that's music words, it would be ‘rowdy,’ it would be ‘fun,’ and it would be ‘sentimental.’ You know, I think that there's a lot of heart that goes into what we do, and when you come to see our shows, you potentially may leave better than the way you came in. And that's my goal.
I love that. I've seen some of your clips from your recent shows like, you got to play the Ryman for the first time the other day.
Yes, sold it out.
Sold it out as well. For any country singer that's bucket list. It's right up there, right? What was that experience like? Did you have time to appreciate the moment? Has it even sunk in yet? Because I imagine everything's just go, go, go for you right now.
Yeah, it has been. I've actually tried to take it slow, like, the realization of it, you know, and seeing how it's all happened. I've seen a lot of videos, and I realized once I was on the stage and we were getting to the last few songs, and was like, wow, it went by just as fast as it came, like it was it was over before it started, and it just happened so fast, and I didn't want it to end. It was such a special night with my family there and so many friends, and just like a hometown show, you know? So, yeah, it was very special.
Are there any venues - I mean, you've already ticked off the Ryman now - but are there any other venues that are still on your bucket list that you can't wait to get to play?
Yeah. The 02 Arena, I've made some new ones. We're gonna sell out the 02 one day. Things like Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, which I'm playing with Keith Urban. But one day, I want to do that, you know, on my own. I want to headline that and sell that out. Yeah, I have a few, Red Rocks [Ampitheatre, Colorado], I think is a lot of artists favourite venue, which I haven't got to play that yet. So, yeah, a lot of cool ones for sure. Oh, and the Opera House in Australia.
That's another cool one, absolutely. How many shows are you getting to do in Australia on that tour?
I think it's about eight or nine, somewhere close to that.
Do you get a lot of time to experience the cities that you're in when you're on tour?
Sometimes you don’t, but in the bigger cities that have a lot to offer, I try to at least plan an extra day around it to or try to play my schedule around it, to get out and see, you know, certain areas. So I definitely plan on going and exploring while I'm over there, seeing y'all.
I hope that you do get to do that over here, and in Rotterdam and Berlin as well. I went last year for the first time to both cities, and they're incredible.
I love to hear that.
I hope you get to meet plenty of people there and get see some of the sites.
It’s gonna be awesome, and I gotta ask – is that Alana on your wall too?
It is, yeah. Her tour poster – I caught a couple of her shows in the states in December 2023.
I love that. Big Alana fan, big Luke Bryan fan.
Yeah, I don’t have enough walls for all the country music posters I have, honestly [laughs].
I'm gonna make sure we get you some while we're there.
[Laughs] I need some Chase Matthew’s representation on this wall.
Yes we do, yes we do.
Absolutely, and I just wanna say thank you again for your time, man and I hope you have a great show in Florida and a safe journey over here.
I appreciate all your love that you've been showing and I hope we impress you and you get to come see us again, and we’ll see ya soon.
