Williamsburg, Virginia native Canaan Smith digs further into his country roots and takes fans to the honky-tonk with new song ‘Heartbreak Heaven’ (available HERE). The song is Smith’s first new material since the release of his critically acclaimed 2021 album ‘High Country Sound’, and it marks his first release as an independent artist. Taking full control of his career, Smith is making music that is true to his artistry as he realises his full potential as a vocalist and a songwriter. ‘Heartbreak Heaven’ is just a taste of things to come with plans for more new music to be released over the coming months.
As “Heartbreak Heaven” marks the start of Canaan’s next musical chapter, he recently took some time to hang out with Jamie over Zoom to talk about new music, releasing music independently, his memories of playing in the UK and a little North Carolina Tar Heels basketball which you can listen to here:
With over 500 million streams, and counting, Smith has made waves in country music as both an artist and a songwriter. With two albums under his belt and the number one Platinum-certified smash single ‘Love You Like That’, he has cemented his position as one of the genre’s most versatile artists. As an artist he’s toured the US with the likes of Florida Georgia Line, Brantley Gilbert, Dierks Bentley and Kip Moore, whilst he has also taken his music international by appearing at Europe’s largest country music fest; Country 2 Country in addition to bringing his ‘Back For More’ tour to the UK in 2017.
