Across 12 tracks, Chevy Beaulieu brings together a sound the Alberta country artist has been steadily building over the past year — traditional country storytelling, barroom humour, heartbreak, sharp hooks, and a rough-around-the-edges honesty that has quickly set him apart within Canada’s next wave of country voices.
Leading the release is the focus track, “Hell If I Know,” a fan favourite from Chevy’s live show that captures the restless, hard-luck side of the project. Written by Chevy and Walker Tompkins, the song finds him caught somewhere between bad habits, bad luck, and a job he can’t stand, anchored by a soaring chorus.
As Chevy often puts it from the stage, “Hell If I Know” is a song about “cocaine and hating your job,” a blunt introduction that speaks to the track’s worn-down honesty and the feeling of wanting out, even when you’re not sure where you’re headed.
That same lived-in perspective runs throughout the album. Rather than smoothing out the edges, Chevy Beaulieu leans into them, moving between heartbreak songs, honky-tonk moments, barroom one-liners, and the kind of real-life country storytelling that has become central to Chevy’s sound.
