Corey Kent Live at the Electric Ballroom
Entering the stage for the final night of the UK and Irish run of the Black Bandana Tour at just after 9pm Corey Kent and his boys set the tone for what to expect with “Ain’t Gonna Lie” which opened the wild 17 song set.
Seeing the Oklahoma born turned north Texas artist performing with his full band in the UK for the first time was something that he had been very excited about when we recently caught up with Corey and the show at Electric Ballroom in Camden was a real showcase of his prowess as both a songwriter and being centrepiece of a country rock band.

He is one of those guys who you really want to root for as he is one of the most likeable guys in country music, he has a growing catalogue of stellar hits and gets better each time that you see him live. One of the early highlights was his cover of “Come Together” and his interpretation of The Beatles classic reaches an even higher level of intensity when seen live compared to hearing the recording on his “‘24 Live” album. The song has such an iconic intro and the way that they have interpreted it which even surpasses the Aerosmith version of how Steven Tyler imagined it, at the end of our interview over Zoom, I stressed how much I was looking forward to hearing this live but all of my expectations were smashed.
Corey had stressed during our chat about how proud he was of his crew and this really resonated on stage as it really looked one of the tightest and most refined performances I have seen as he shared stories and hit the notes throughout the entire set.
The “hits” flowed towards the end of the set with recent Lauren Alaina collaboration “Now or Never” leading into “Something’s Gonna Kill Me” which is obviously a certified BANGER but just goes even harder with the full band so really stood out as the highlight of the entire show

During the show, Kent manifested where next? Electric Ballroom is a really decent sized venue in town and he is set to play shows with Morgan Wallen at some of America’s biggest stadiums so I really hope he is that one in a million and we look back on this show as the black bandana finds its way to Wembley stadium.
The crowd erupted at the sound of the intro to his smash “Wild as Her” began where an incredibly loud crowd chorus showed his growth on this side of the Atlantic before the main set was rounded off with his beer drinking song “Ain’t My Day” which was rowdy enough to get the London crowd craving more.
A well deserved encore followed which saw him return on his own to perform acoustic renditions of deep cut “BiC Flame Guy” and Darell Scott’s “It’s a Great Day to be Alive” which we all know was made famous by Travis Tritt. This was a wondrous exhibition of country rock and roll, which we hope will maintain annual visits as venue sizes continue to grow but hopefully next time, and we definitely hope there is a next time, we can be not just be selling out even bigger venues but celebrating it being Dak Prescott winning the Lombardi as our focal point!
London, UK setlist: Ain’t Gonna Lie, Highways, Tumbleweed, This Heart, Come Together (The Beatles cover), How You Know You Made It, Damn Good Country Song, Gold, Rust, Now or Never, Something’s Gonna Kill Me, Never Ready, Black Bandana, Wild as Her, Ain’t My Day, BiC Flame Guy, It’s a Great Day to be Alive (Darell Scott cover)
