Emmett Jerome Lingers in the Aftershock on New Single “Natural Disaster”
Vancouver singer-songwriter Emmett Jerome releases his new single, “Natural Disaster,” turning the aftermath of a relationship on the edge into a hypnotic blend of heartbreak, tension, and reckless attraction. Arriving ahead of a busy summer festival season, the track finds Jerome continuing to evolve his country, rock, and Americana roots through sleek guitar work, evocative lyricism, and a sharper alternative edge. Listen to “Natural Disaster” HERE.
Written and recorded in a single day, “Natural Disaster” captures the push and pull between love, frustration, and attraction, exploring the complicated emotions that linger long after the fight is over. Driven by moody, late-night energy, the track simmers with the tension of two people standing in the wreckage, neither quite ready to walk away.
“Natural Disaster is about the stillness after the storm – in this case, the storm being one of those ‘do-we-make-it-outta-here’ arguments with someone you love,” says Jerome. “The song is really important to me coming out of a really turbulent couple of years relationship-wise. The whole song came together in the blink of an eye – it was written and recorded in the same day, and I swear we did one vocal take. It was so immediate, everything just felt right.”
“Natural Disaster” arrives as Jerome continues to refine his musical identity, pairing years of road-earned experience with songs that feel bigger, bolder, and more fully realized than ever before. Beginning as a busker on the streets of Vancouver before stepping into the touring circuit, he has steadily built a reputation as a captivating live performer and songwriter.
That evolution can be heard throughout his growing catalogue. While 2024's Rocky Mountain Son leaned into the troubadour tradition with acoustic-driven stories of heartache, life on the road, and a deep sense of place, follow-up release It Ain't Me expanded his sonic palette through heartland Americana influences and broader rock textures. On “Natural Disaster,” those influences collide with newfound urgency, resulting in a track that feels equally at home on a festival stage or during a late-night drive home.
The release arrives ahead of one of Jerome's busiest summers to date, with performances scheduled at NXNE, Khatsalano Festival, Bella Coola Music Festival, Kispiox Valley Music Festival, Wayne Stock, and more. As his audience continues to grow, “Natural Disaster” offers a compelling snapshot of an artist settling confidently into his sound.
