Laura Evans- Running Back To You review

Picture
Blue-eyed soul singer/songwriter Laura Evans has released her new EP Running Back to You today Friday 31st July. The 5 track EP is a fusion of blues, soul and rock showcasing the young singer/songwriter talent.

The EP kicks off with punchy rock-n-roll single “Drag Me Back In” which was co-written with artist Desi Valentine and producer Nicolas Gruter and released on 26th June. The title track and single “Running Back To You” which went straight to number 1 in the UK iTunes Blues chart while entering US Blues Chart at Number 43, takes a listener back to the era of Fleetwood Mac with Evans mirroring a similar style to Stevie Knicks.  “Mess Of Me” begins with a soft piano as Evans voice shines. Wearing her heart on her sleeve on the 3-minute track. Meanwhile, the last 2 tracks “Aberdare” a small town in Wales, leads with a rootsy approach as opposed to previous tracks, which showcase Evans hasn’t yet given up on love. The album closes with the single “Running Back To You ” yet with a stripped-back acoustic take making the song as mesmerising as it gets.

Evans shines whether it was through her beautifully structured lyrics or voice that depict current contemporaries like Margo Price, Tenille Townes, Aubrie Sellers and not to mention Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Knicks. Evans work not only embodies soul/blues but also Americana to its fullest.

True country music is honesty, sincerity, and real life to the hilt.
