Our Alumni Sunday continues! We are excited to finally share our latest 'Live in The Studio' with Jamie Freeman. Watch him preform songs from his recent album Dreams About Falling produced by Neilson Hubbardincluded songs "The Fire" that was nominated Song of The Year at the 2019 Americana Music Association UK, "The Man I Want To Be" and a new song co-written with Graham Weber. Plus a great cover of Lucinda Williams "Changed The Locks" from Williams self titled 1988 album.
Last year, Michaela Anne opened up our ‘Live in The Studio’ during her UK tour. Today, we’re celebrating her return with a list of brand new songs from recent album Desert Dove. Since her visit Michaela has released a new single titled “Good Times” in the meantime, she continues to host a live stream on both Facebook and Instagram helping raise money to different charities. Live in The Studio is back this time New Jersey singer-songwriter Darrin Bradbury. Releasing debut album in September "Talking Dogs and Atom Bombs." Rolling Stone magazine described Bradbury “…countrified talking blues, oddball folk, and black humor, with some stoner-worthy philosophy about the origins of microwaves tossed into the pot.” produced by Produced by Kenneth Pattengale (The Milk Carton Kids), Talking Dogs & Atom Bombs is a collection of songs born from dealing with depression and the pressures of life in the only way Bradbury knows; by poking fun at it. While in the UK opening up for Texas songster Jarrod Dickenson, Bradbury came down and sang a couple of tunes including one special festive tune. JM Stevens
JM Stevens an Austin based singer- songwriter debuts his first solo album Invisible Lines today November 8th. Stevens who fueled Moonlight Towers through 15 years, four albums and thousands of miles criss-crossing the country on shoestring tours has a knack for tapping the intangible elements of pop songcraft that elevate the enduring from the ephemeral. During his trip overseas and showcase at London’s ‘What’s Cookin’ JM joined us for a session.

Nashville-based singer songwriter & CMT's Next Woman of Country Emily Hackett has joined us for a session during her visit in the UK and appearance at this years Country Music Week. Hackett, released her new EP "BY THE MOON" which includes Emily's critically acclaimed and Lightning 100 championed single "Easy ,"
Hackett is one of few rare songwriter who doesn’t just pour their heart into lyrics— The young songwriter inspires every listener to reach a deeper honesty in their own lives. With her stunningly detailed storytelling, the Nashville-based artist sheds light on the countless liabilities of being human, ultimately transforming even the most painful feelings into something glorious.

Matt The Electrician
Country in The UK collab with Richmond Free Press UK 'Live in The Studio' is back with Matt The Electrician as the latest guest. Based in Austin, TX, Matt finally returns to the UK for a string of solo shows and debut this past weekend at Long Road Festival. Recently, Matt premiered "Thank You" via American Songwriter a direct sentiment from Matt to his dedicated fanbase for supporting him throughout the years. Rooted in gratitude, Matt sings, “Where would I be if no one helped me along? I wouldn’t have gotten very far on my own.” The single also serves as a pre-emptive show of appreciation as Matt kicks off a major Kickstarter campaign for his most ambitious record yet, taking him into the studio of renowned producer Tucker Martine (Jenny Lewis, Iron & Wine, My Morning Jacket, The Decemberists, Neko Case) in Portland, Oregon this fall. The collaboration with Martine marks a significant new career phase for Matt — his first time working with a producer in his more than 25 years of writing and performing. The accompanying Kickstarter campaign for the album launches today, which is anticipated for release in Spring 2020. Matthew Logan Vasquez
Joining us for our latest In The Studio Session with Richmond Free Press is ex-Delta Spirit multi-talented Texas born singer-songwriter Matthew Logan Vasquez who stopped by the studio for a special session performing songs from recent album “Light’n Up” LIGHT’N UP is Vasquez album captures the songwriters amid a season of deep despair. The 9 introspective songs speak of life from heartbreak, recent changes, politics to irony. “If a record is the sum of a chapter in a person’s life, this is a yearbook for me. It’s who I was then. It’s what I was thinking and feeling – all the heartbreak and longing,” Vasquez mentions. “I usually don’t go this dark and put so many sad songs on a record.” The explosion of sounds showcases Vasquez undeniable talent while a special nod to his musical heroes.

Sean McConnell
This week we welcomed Nashville based singer-songwriter Sean McConnell to the studio to perform a few tracks during a break from his recent tour where he was supporting Ashley Monroe. With his latest album, Secondhand Smoke, coming out this Friday (8th February) Sean performed Here We Go, Shaky Bridges and the title track Secondhand Smoke.
Secondhand Smoke, consists of a modern-day collection of folk music. Seeking provocative questions about mortality, love, pain, and freedom that overwhelm us but come into terms accepting some of the answers that might puzzle us forever. “The older I get, the more I find that is what it’s all about––that there is no way to answer it all,” Sean says. “Being comfortable with mystery is a positive thing in all aspects of our lives. I definitely explore that in these songs.”
Michaela Anne
Our first feature artist for In The Studio is Michaela Anne.
The Nashville based artist received wide acclaim with her 2014 “Ease On My Mind” in a The New York Times quote about the album “plain-spoken songs of romantic regret and small-town longing” Anne is no stranger to voyages and heartfelt stories while questioning life.. in fact in her 2016 release “Bright Light and Fame” illustrated the young songwriter song-craft in painting tales inside listeners mind.
