Louise Connor Put You Onto Country EP Review
Off the back of releasing three singles earlier this year and a performance as part of the Homegrown Talent Contest at the sixth instalment of The Long Road in Leicestershire, Manchester based singer-songwriter Louise Connor is set to kick on with her rise through the British country music scene with the release of her debut EP "Put You Onto Country" which was released on Friday 24th October.
The five-track collection which was written by Connor in its entirety and was produced by James Wyatt at Sloe Flower Studio in Chester, really highlights an enticing sound and smooth clean songwriting which is almost like if Margo Price made music at the height of Laurel Canyon prominence.
The inspiration behind the EP and it’s total track which is a dive bar-esque toe tapper is about spreading the word of the genre to the non-believers in the hope of showing them hem the light and exactly why country music is so wonderful both lyrically and melodically where there is a song for every occasion.
“Settle Down Cowboy” is the other big sounding track on the album whilst the blend of tempo’s across the project really highlights her influence and scope of musical direction.
“Treasure” is a sweet guitar ballad with beautiful lyricism which really stands out about rediscovering things in an old family home that help remember and reminisce about things that provoke memories and remind you that some things have much more value than being purely financial.

This first introduction is a strong one, Connor’s sound is more defined than a lot of British based country artists who are trying to replicate a Nashville sound or attempting to add more to being a singer-songwriter as her influence really shines through and whilst the production is really impressive it is not overproduced so her craft as both a vocalist and writer are demonstrated to their fullest.
