Out now: The new summer anthem from Tenille Townes, ‘Sunshine’s Free’
Award-winning singer-songwriter Tenille Townes has released her uplifting new single 'Sunshine’s Free', a carefree, windows-down anthem arriving just weeks after her self-produced album The Acrobat. The single is available now across all streaming platforms - watch the visualiser here.
With a signature guitar lick played by none other than Keith Urban, 'Sunshine’s Free' is an instant mood-lifting track about slowing down and finding joy in the everyday. The song arrives as a natural extension of the emotional depth explored on The Acrobat, offering a bright counterpoint to the album’s introspective nature. The single also includes a clever nod to her 2020 album The Lemonade Stand, weaving a playful reference into the lyrics that longtime fans will instantly recognise.
Limited tickets are now on sale here for The Living Room Tour across the UK in September/October - an acoustic evening with Tenille Townes:
TENILLE TOWNES' THE LIVING ROOM UK TOUR DATES:
Tuesday, 29th September, 2026 - The Gate, Cardiff
Wednesday, 30th September, 2026 - EartH, London
Thursday 1st October, 2026 - Stoller, Manchester
Friday 2nd October, 2026 - Mackintosh, Glasgow
“I wrote this song as a mission statement to my own heart, to slow down and be intentional about noticing the joy that’s around us," shared Townes. "I hope it feels like rolling the windows down, breathing in the fresh summer air, and the taste of freedom that comes from being present in your own skin. It’s a constant practice for me, and a reminder that right now is all we really have to hold onto."
On Keith Urban joining her for the song, she added: “Something about the heart and soul of this song made me want the guitar part to carry that same kind of joy, and I kept coming back to the thought, ‘what would Keith Urban do?’ I’ve been such a fan of his for years because of his signature sound and the joy he brings to his music and live performances. At a certain point I thought, what if he’d actually be up for playing on it? He said yes, and I’m so grateful he was up for adding his fingerprint to this song!!”
