Restless Road Live at Lafayette

Every year when you think the C2C weekend has come to a close there’s always at least one act that wants to keep the country party going. This year that claim went to Nashville trio Restless Road.

After helping mark the return of the C2C festival on the content with performances in Rotterdam and Berlin (as well as a midweek show in Hamburg), Restless Road followed up their UK C2C dates with their first ever headline show at a sold out Lafayette - having already required a venue upgrade from Omeara. The group made their UK debut last year supporting Kane Brown and clearly made a last impression with the UK audience as the demand for the show was clear to see.

There was no post C2C blues to be seen at the show as the queue snaked along Regents Canal outside the venue waiting for doors to open and opening act Sophia Scott - fresh off four sets at this years festival - to hit the stage. Sophia had clearly added some new fans amongst the crowd over the weekend as it is always great to see a full house for a support act and this was no different as many sang along throughout.

As the lights went out, Restless Road were about to spend the next 80 minutes proving that they are going to be another act whose venues will only get bigger each time they return. The trio can use this years festival as inspirations for main stage artists who started out on the festival stages, because after tonight’s show they will be there sooner rather than later, and they will be the shouting out the fans who were at Lafayette for their first headline show. We’ve been fans of the group since we first saw them live when they supported Kane Brown last year and have always known how well they complement each other on stage, which was in full evidence at Lafayette.

Having released their debut album, Last Rodeo, in October the night was a chance for the group to play tracks from the album and introduce themselves to a London audience. Opening to a fan favourite in Bar Friends, Zach, Garrett and Colton armed with their guitars didn’t let the tempo drop throughout the night as they went through their set. There was time for a classics medley - which included Save A Horse Ride A Cowboy - and a Keith Urban throwback to their original X factor audition. Having spent a few days in the UK, Colton showed his musical talent by heading to the keys for a track they had learnt especially for the show - Lewis Capaldi’s Someone I Used To Love. As the night was coming to a close, there was time for a proposal during Growing Old With You, before they closed the night out with the title track of their debut album - Last Rodeo.

The next time Restless Road return there are a few things that almost seem certain - they will headline more than one show; the venue will be a lot larger than 600 people; and it’ll be a sell out.
