Robyn Ottolini Expands Viral Fan Favourite with New Studio Recording “Growing Down (Into the Roots)”
After first connecting with audiences through the raw demo version, Robyn Ottolini today releases the studio recording of “Growing Down (Into the Roots),” expanding the viral fan-favourite into a fully-produced track while preserving the emotional honesty that made listeners embrace it in the first place (LISTEN HERE).
Originally shared to TikTok late last year as a quiet, personal moment, “Growing Down” turned into widespread connection. A short clip of the song sparked a wave of fan engagement on TikTok, inspiring more than 20,000 user-generated videos, alongside millions of views and thousands of comments from listeners sharing their own stories of letting go and embracing their truths. The demo version, released as a full track in February, has already generated hundreds of thousands of streams in its first month. Now Ottolini builds on the song’s evolution with the release of “Growing Down (Into the Roots).”
“The bare-bones message of self-acceptance resonated with people, and it felt freeing to release something I would have otherwise called unfinished,” says Ottolini. “But just like inner growth, it slowly blossomed into what I knew was always there. The more I sat with it in the studio, the more it revealed itself, and I didn’t want to rush that. A wholeness emerged because I embraced the messy and the unknown, and I love how ‘Growing Down (Into the Roots)’ really does feel like the sonic evolution of that process – a conviction that comes from trusting your gut and digging deeper.”
While growing up is often framed as becoming someone new, Ottolini views growing down as something different: rediscovering the truest version of yourself beneath the expectations, pressures and definitions that accumulate over time. The evolved version serves as the sonic progression of deepened self-acceptance and the beauty revealed as you embrace truth and escape conformity, expanding the raw authenticity of the demo into a fuller, richer sound while preserving the emotional core that first resonated with listeners.

It’s not the first time a breakthrough moment has shifted the course of the Nashville-based, small-town Ontario-born country artist’s career. In 2020, Ottolini’s breakout hit “F-150” experienced similar virality, helping launch a run that now includes Platinum and Gold-certified hit songs, CCMA Award wins and nominations and a career stream count approaching 200 million. The impact also cemented her reputation among fans, fellow artists and the industry on both sides of the border for her distinctive style and authenticity.
Last year, Ottolini continued that momentum with new music, including the fan-favourite radio hit “Airplane Bottle,” and her second career headlining tour. “Growing Down (Into the Roots)” leads the next phase of Ottolini’s creative evolution as she works towards her eventual debut album release.
Ottolini will perform alongside James Barker Band, Sacha, Kalsey Kulyk and The Redhill Valleys at the JUNO Kickoff Concert, the official launch of Canada’s Biggest Week in Music, on March 26 at The Music Hall in Hamilton, Ontario. More info can be found: HERE.
