.How are you feeling about getting on stage at Buckle and Boots? I’m so ready to be back on stage with my band. I’m still incredibly proud of my album “Comeback Queen” and cannot wait to play the songs live for the B&B audience. I’m nervous (it’s been a while!) but I’m also completely buzzing for it.
.What can the crowd expect from your set? I’m playing my set with myself between keys and acoustic guitar, then band members on drums, bass and lead guitar. So for me, that’s kind of stripped back.. at my album launch there were 9 of us on stage! “Comeback Queen” is all about the raw, gutsy feel of the songs though and I’m looking forward to conveying that during my set with this small band of unbelievably talented musicians I’m bringing up from Suffolk!
.What encouraged you to want to play Buckle and Boots? The music I’m making now is such a mix of genres.. “Comeback Queen” has elements of Country, Blues, Americana and Pop.. but I grew up with pure, traditional country and love the genre so much. The UK scene is really interesting, and there are some exciting acts on the bill that I’m looking forward to sharing the stage with. The UK Country fans are also so supportive and kind, I’m looking forward to catching up with them after what has been an awful 18 months for us.
.What is your favourite song to play live? I think it’s probably the first single we released “Hard Time”. This track is really stompy, and great fun to play the guitar riff live. Also, it means a lot to me as it was playlist on the Apple Music “Now That’s What I Call Country” Playlist, and it racked up a lot of streams!
.What 2 facts should we know about you? - I’m actually a classically trained singer, and always expected my music career to be in the classical genre! I wanted to be an Opera singer for many years! - I used to work as a face character at Disneyland Paris playing Cinderella!
If you are heading to this weekends sold out Buckle and Boots Festival you can catch Sam on the Paddock Stage at 5pm on Saturday
