The track is the latest to be unveiled from their anticipated debut EP, Sweet Southern Summer, out August 22 via Warner Music Nashville (pre-save/pre-order Here).
Reflecting on the song, the duo--Logan Simmons and Malachi Mills, share, “‘I Love Leavers’ is about every no-good fool we should’ve left but didn’t. We wrote it with Marcus Hummon, legend and writer of “Bless the Broken Road.” This tune took a road that wasn’t so blessed…but instead, tells the hard truth. It’s one’s for the backsliders, the liars, the cheaters, and the heartbreaks you keep crawling back to, even when you know better.”
Produced by John Osborne (Brothers Osborne) with additional production from Greg Bieck (Little Big Town, etc), the EP signals a breakout year for The Band Loula, spotlighting the duo’s powerful storytelling and unique swampgrass sound. The project consists of six tracks including previously released songs “Sweet Southern Summer,” “Can’t Please ‘Em All” and “Running Off The Angels,” which Billboard calls “An immensely promising release,” while All Country News declares, “a haunting, culturally charged ballad that cements their place as one of the genre’s most compelling new acts” and Music Row proclaims, “Bluesy, swampy and cool, this conjures a spell with its mysterious, haunting, Biblical images of damnation and redemption…Highly engaging.”
