The Sit Down with Savannah Jade
French Canadian artist Savannah Jade closed out 2025 with the release of her new single Man Outta Me. 2025 was a breakout artist for the Quebec native with the release of her self-titled debut 8 track EP and headed to both LASSO and Big Valley Jamboree Festivals in the summer. As Savannah Jade continue to make the transition from performing as part of a duo, formerly part of Five Roses, to being a solo artist, 2026 looks set to be an exciting year as she continues to distinguish herself as a standout voice in Canadian country music with confirmed appearances at Boots and Hearts Music Festival and Musique Fest Premier Tech. We caught up with Savannah Jade earlier this week to find out more about Man Outta Me and look ahead to 2026.
Hi, how are you?
I'm good, how are you?
Yeah, good, thanks for taking the time.
Thanks for having me.
Do you feel like you're ready for 2026?
I am so ready
You're now a month on from releasing Man Outta Me. Does it feel like it's been a month?
It goes so fast. The month of December is insanely fast every year, and I think the more we get old, the faster it goes. In my head, it hasn't been a month for sure.
Did you always want to release at the end of the year?
We decided about two months before the release date. One, it was a gift to all my fans and the people that follows me, but also it was just right at the time where the Christmas song stopped playing. So, I was like, maybe that's a cool time.
Did some people almost expect it to be a Christmas song releasing at that time of year?
Yeah, that's what they all expected, and I was like, no, just wait, just wait.
Have you been able to play it live yet or is it still waiting for that first appearance?
I played it last summer because I love to test songs too in the festivals and stuff and see how people react to it before releasing them. I have played it a couple of times and it's a really powerful song live. It's really sentimental and I just love it so much. In my shows, I mostly do up beat songs and dance songs that people can have a blast on, but this one is more of a ballad mid-tempo kind of song and people are listening more closely to it, but it’s still a fun one to play.

How nice is it now you can put your stamp on these songs in a language that you didn't grow up speaking?
Yeah, totally. Someone told me once that I could not write a great song in English, and I was like, this is all I needed to get the fuel to go to Nashville and just write songs and write and write and write and get better. And so, that's what I did. This song was the first song that I've ever written for my solo project. It's really about a woman who just went down a breakup and she's like, scream crying in her bed, eating ice cream, not having a good time. Then she scrolls Instagram and she sees her ex having a blast and smoking cigarettes and just partying and she wants to be that version of herself too. She wants to be like he is. It's really an anthem about being empowered and stronger and the best version of ourselves and putting all our self-doubts aside. That's really where it correlates with me at the time because I put all my self-doubts aside too and started to write my songs. I'm super happy about it.
Have you always kind of performed songs in English or did you used to do them in French?
I did both, mostly in English, even if I didn't know what the words meant when I was really young. But I just love the sound of it. I did some contests in French too.
So I've spoken with Matt Lang a couple of times and he has mentioned coming from that Quebec area, growing up not speaking English, it can be that little bit of an extra challenge for you to break into this market. Have you felt that as well?
Yeah, totally. It's really different. There's the language barrier at first and I'm not fluent perfectly in English, but I still learn every day. I read all my books in English and listen to all my podcasts, so that's a challenge for sure. That's why I love to co-write with people. I just tell them what I want to say in my songs. and they would put it into words and correct a few of mine too! It's just a fun collaboration and I love that.

You've only been a solo artist for just over 12 months. Did that make 2025 a whirlwind year?
Yeah, it's been really fast because I released my first single in February of last year. I've written so many songs, because I love to write now and it's really a passion of mine. I'm sitting on 20 more demos that I haven't even recorded yet and I just want to put them out. I'm just so excited about it and want to share everything that I do with people as soon as I can.
You're starting to get over a few early milestones too with the release of your first EP last year too. Is it quite nice to be ticking those things off the list?
Yes, for sure. In my early shows, I was doing lots of covers because I had only one single out! It's fun to have a full EP out as now I can play them in my in my shows with some covers also. I'm just so excited and now I'm super ready for what's coming and new songs to release.
Last summer, you played quite a few of the main Canadian festivals, was it exciting to get across Canada and see a different audience that you hadn't met before?
Yeah, this is my favourite parts of music to perform and to meet people and to see them sing back my songs at me. It's the most fulfilling thing. It feels just so great. I'm so grateful to be able to do that and it's just amazing to have a blast with my friends who are my band.
And then you've already got in the calendar Boots and Hearts for this year.
Yes, I can't wait. It's gonna be so much fun. It's a big festival and it's always so much fun. I played it once with my old band, Five Roses, and we had a blast. Since then, I just love to go as a festival person too. It's just amazing to be able to do it as my solo career under my name. I'm just so happy. It's going to be so much fun.
As you said, before going solo you were in Five Roses. Have you had those moments where you are looking to one side for a bit of support and then you suddenly realise it's only you on the stage?
No, because I had a whole summer of doing no shows, so I kind of made the split between the two. I enjoyed doing it with someone else, but also I enjoy doing it alone with my band. It's different, but it's as fun.
You're still with MDM Recordings who supported Five Roses too. How good has it been to have that support from them as you go from duo to a solo artist and singer songwriter?
It helps so much and they're amazing. They're like my second family now and I trust them with my life since Five Roses, so I'm just really happy that they signed me back.
Is it good to kind of have other artists on that label, like Jess Moskaluke, to reach out to as well for a bit of advice?
Of course, and I've been looking up to Jess for a long, long time and she's now my manager also, so I'm really lucky on that side. She has lived everything that I'm going to live and living, so she's really good to give me advices and stuff like that. I'm really lucky.
With a full year ahead of you, have you got plans in place for the year ahead?
I'm just going to release single by single, see how it goes and just wish for the best, but also I just want to have fun and play shows and share again my music with people and just share moments. I'm sitting on like 20 or more songs that I have written but haven't recorded yet. I want to choose the right songs for me and pitch some songs to other artists that I think would fit too. That would be fun. I want to be wise with the songs that I'm releasing, and I just wanted them to feel really like me. I doubt there will be album this year, but maybe in the future, pretty near.
Have you been able to notice people picking up your music a lot more across the country and things as the more releases are coming out and putting tracks out for radio play?
Yes. Every time it's a pinch me moment, because I always think that it's only my mom and my dad that listen to my music, but now I see that it's not the case. So yeah, it's amazing.
Well, thank you so much and we can’t wait to see what comes next for you in 2026.
It's been fun. Thank you so much for having me.
