Tyler Braden Neon Grave Review
The swampy beginnings of “Neon Grave” really set the tone as the title track for the six track EP from Tyler Braden, a former firefighter and first responder from Slaport, Alabama. This southern rock anthem is an anthemic introduction to a project that is very diverse sonically which brings intrigue to Braden as a vocalist and songwriter across the entire scope of country, Americana and Southern rock.
“Try Losing One” is the records lead single that appears in it’s purest form as the final offering which is a powerful piano ballad that really speaks to people which reflects in how it is continuing to climb in the United States but also is present once more in duet form. Sydney Sierota, the lead singer of sibling band Echosmith who are best known from their 2014 hit “Cool Kids” enters in the second verse on the re-working of the song as track 2 before Braden beautifully returns to harmonise and elevate the track even further from the next chorus onwards.
Whilst the sunset drive feels of “Wrong Right Now” and mid-tempo tap-along of “Choose Me” offer more country radio sounds, they really compliment Braden’s scope as an artist whilst the power and depth showcase his storytelling to complete an enticing sophomore project.
Braden shows depth and versatility with this project that incorporates a vast scope of influences that will draw in fans across a wide spectrum. There is the dirty raw sounds of southern rock, the power ballads that grab each emotion and the slick clean production that has the ability to reach a wider audience which overall allows him to showcase everything that he is about with the ability to tread between these boundaries that you are inquisitive to hear more of.
