The Sit Down with Tyler Braden
Since we last saw Warner Music Nashville’s Tyler Braden back in 2023 at C2C: Country to Country Festival, the Alabama native and his gritty powerhouse vocal have continued to reach new heights and more acclaim. Tracks like “Me Or The Dawn”, “Call Me First”, “Above The Water” and the sensational “Devil You Know” which is pushing two hundred million streams since it’s release, have showcased not just his power as vocalist but also his openness and versality as a songwriter#.
Whilst Tyler was back in the UK opening for Brothers Osborne on their “Might As Well Be Us World Tour” we caught up with up him ahead of the show in Manchester.
Hey Tyler, great to see you dude, it’s been a while. Thanks for taking the time for a chat this morning, how have the shows on the tour been going though so far?
“It's been great. I mean great crowds, fun cities, you know and seeing things we haven't seen before, so it's been really fun.”
You said that the crowds have been great so far opening for John and TJ, where the reaction I’ve seen from the three shows so far has been fantastic. I think the big difference for anyone that did see you last time is obviously that at C2C it was just you and your guitar when you were up there with Alana (Springsteen) and Caylee (Hammack) but on this tour you are able to show more of what you what you really do because you've got some friends playing on stage with you.
“Absolutely, bringing the full band has been great. Doing the tourist stuff and hanging out has been cool to get to do stuff together but yeah bringing the full show has been a real plus.”

The new music that you've been putting out since the “Neon Grave” project particularly “Me Or The Dawn” which came out last week has really honed into to that heavier sort of sound so, I guess it does make a lot of difference to be able to showcase it when you've got a band behind you.
“We've been starting the show a couple of times with it and yeah, what we've put out the last few months is definitely on the heavier side.”
When you put out an extended project , all the songs come as a package but since “Neon Grave” you have been putting songs out on their own which does allow you to focus more on each track and give each of them your full attention, which in the case of “Devil You Know” has worked really well.
“Yeah, that helped a lot with social media and everything then “Devil You Know” gave us a huge year last year. It was our biggest song to date and we've kind of been building on some different projects around it but putting that one song out at a time and deciding exactly how we want to move into anything bigger. We're kind of still on the fence with that but yeah, it's been cool to do the one song at a time and kind of focus some content on it to really see how people take to these different songs as we get ready to hopefully do something bigger.”

Given how it’s been working, is this the way you're looking to carry on releasing music through the rest of year?
“It's kind of a back and forth thing. We've been putting out one song at a time, but they've been part of projects. There’s a single called “Devil”, one called “Prayer, and it's been kind of working towards a plan of doing something bigger, which just haven't quite put her finger on exactly how. As soon as we do, we've got plans to tell the world, but we haven't exactly nailed that down, so I can't tell everything just yet, but we've got some plans in the works.”
Touring over here are a little different as it is more condensed and playing more shows back to back and you had said you had an off day up in Newcastle yesterday but what does a show day typically look like for you on tour?
“I don’t have like a super specific thing that I do before shows to get ready, but I mean, in the morning, I kind of do thing for a little while and get a coffee to get woken up. I haven't had a chance to go get coffee at this morning, we're a bit of further walk than some of the other venues. So yeah, we get up, find us some coffee and find us some breakfast then try to see a little bit of the local area. Sometimes in the States maybe we get up and go play golf or something like that but here has been a little different, because we want to try to do some tourist things or try to see some sites and we try to fit that in between the shows. Then about five o'clock or so, we're doing sound check and wrapping up sound check and trying to maybe get a quick dinner, but we've been going on stage at eight and I don't like to eat too close to the shows. So, we just kind of been doing the last minute preparation and then hanging out the green room getting ready for the show with the band and all just kind of hanging out.”
It's great to see you dude and I’m really looking forward to the show tonight, I’m glad I can make it along because I’m busy on Thursday for the London show and a Saturday is obviously the best night for a party which I know you and those Brothers Osborne boys will definitely bring. I had some friends head over to Dublin who had a great time all the posts I have seen talk about how great you have been with the full band and the crowds over here really appreciate that from an opener.
“Absolutely, we've been excited to be able to bring the whole crew over here and show that other side of us because some of our stuff does get a little heavier and that doesn't come across as well in acoustic, but I enjoy doing both types of shows, but we're glad to be over here with the band for the first time.”
That’s awesome Tyler, I’ll let you go and find some coffee then will see you tonight!
